ShopGrade for D2C brands

Find what is hurting your Shopify store before it costs you more sales

You know your store from the inside. ShopGrade looks at it the way a first-time visitor on a phone does, and hands back a ranked list of what to fix, with the evidence behind each item.

Nothing to install on Shopify. ShopGrade reads your public storefront, never your admin.

What it looks at

Six scores, and the checks behind each

Each area gets its own 0 to 100 score. The findings underneath are what moved it.

01 Speed How long the page takes to respond and to look ready, and how much weight every third-party app adds to a visit.
02 Feel and response Whether the layout jumps while loading, how fast taps respond, and console errors a shopper never sees but feels.
03 Mobile experience Viewport handling, text too small to read, and tap targets too small to hit reliably.
04 Trust and credibility HTTPS, visible reviews, a findable return policy, payment icons, a privacy notice, and whether anything insecure loads.
05 Buying ease Where the buy button sits, express checkout, a sticky add-to-cart, free-shipping messaging, popups in the way.
06 Findability Titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, product structured data and image alt text.

Scores are directional. They combine weighted checks, and results vary with device, network and page state, so two scans of the same store will not match to the point.

The anatomy

A finding, in full

Not a score and not a vague suggestion. Every item in the report has this shape, so you can act on it or disagree with it.

High impact Quick win · Trust

Product returns information is not visible near the purchase area

Why it matters
Visitors may hesitate to purchase when return conditions are difficult to find. On a product page the decision happens within a few centimetres of the Add to Cart button, and anything a buyer has to go looking for is a reason to stop.
Evidence
No return-policy link was detected in the product form or the product information block. The policy exists, but is reachable only from the footer.
The fix
Add a one-line returns message below Add to Cart and link it to the full policy. State the window and whether return shipping is paid.
Estimated effort: 20 to 30 minutes
The loop

Scan, fix, rescan, compare

The value is not the first report. It is the second one.

01

Scan

Open your storefront and click Grade this store. The live score lands immediately; the full report takes a few minutes.

02

Prioritise

Findings arrive ranked by likely impact against effort, and tagged quick win or dev project, so a small team knows which two things to do this week.

Ranked for you
03

Fix

Work the list. Each item names the page it affects and the change to make, with an effort estimate attached.

One list, in order
04

Rescan

Run it again when the work ships. The report shows the new score beside the old one, what closed, and anything new that appeared.

Proof it moved

A rescan is a fresh report, so it uses one report generation from your monthly allowance.

The handoff

Whoever does the work, the list is the same

Most of what a report finds is copy and layout. Some of it needs a developer. The report separates the two for you.

01 You, this afternoon The quick wins: a returns line under the buy button, a delivery estimate near the price, alt text on gallery images, a contact route in the footer. Theme editor work, not code.
02 Your developer The dev projects come with a written handoff and theme code suggestions, each with an acceptance condition so you can tell when it is actually done.
03 Your agency Share the report as a live link or send the PDF. They see the findings, the evidence and the roadmap without needing access to your account.
04 Nobody, yet Findings that need a human judgement call are grouped separately rather than being presented as certain, so you are not chasing something the scan is unsure about.
Optional

We will not invent a revenue number for your store

ShopGrade cannot see your traffic or your orders, so it does not claim to know what a fix is worth. The calculator takes your own monthly sessions, conversion rate and average order value, and shows what a change of a given size would be worth against those numbers.

That output is arithmetic on the inputs you supply. It is not a prediction, and no finding in the report is priced.

Your store

What it will and will not touch

The honest version, because it is your live storefront and you are right to ask.

  • Reads your public storefrontThe same pages, and the same way, as any customer visiting from Google.
  • Never writes to your storeIt cannot edit a theme, install an app, change a setting or submit a form. There is no write path at all.
  • No Shopify app to installNothing is added to your store, so there is nothing to uninstall and nothing to slow it down.
  • No admin login, everIt never asks for store credentials because it never needs them. Orders, customers and payment data stay where they are.
  • Will not slow your store downThe scan runs in your browser on your machine. Your customers are not affected and nothing runs on your storefront afterwards.
  • Your report stays privateFree reports are owner-only and cannot be shared at all. Paid reports are private until you share them, and every report expires after 15 days.

Do I need a developer to act on this?
Not for most of it. Findings are tagged quick win or dev project, and the quick wins are usually copy and layout changes you can make in the theme editor in under an hour. The dev projects come with a written handoff so you can pass them on cleanly.
Will installing this slow my store down?
No. ShopGrade is a browser extension, not a Shopify app. Nothing is added to your storefront, the scan runs on your own machine, and your customers are unaffected either way.
Is my store data safe?
ShopGrade only reads your public storefront, the same pages any visitor sees. It has no access to your Shopify admin, so it cannot see orders, customers or payment information. It never reads form values or passwords, and it never writes to your store.
How is the score calculated?
The 0 to 100 score combines weighted checks across performance, page structure, script load, trust signals and SEO. Every finding shows the evidence behind it, so you can see what moved the score rather than taking the number on trust.
My score changed and I did not change anything. Why?
Scores are directional and measured live, so results vary with your connection, the device, third-party scripts loading differently and the state of the page at scan time. Treat a few points of movement as noise; treat a resolved finding as real progress.
Can I check a competitor's store?
Yes. ShopGrade works on any publicly accessible Shopify storefront, so you can run the same audit on a rival and compare the two sets of scores side by side.
What do I get without paying?
Unlimited live scores on the toolbar, plus one full report. That report is owner-only: it includes the measured findings but not the AI conversion review, and it cannot be shared, emailed or exported.
What happens if I only fix some of it?
That is the normal case, and it is why the list is ranked. Work from the top, rescan, and the report tells you what actually moved rather than leaving you to guess.
